Well social mediaholic is the new buzzword. The time spent on social media nowadays is increasing dramatically. Additionally, new social media platforms are gaining subscribers like Snapchat. Even Celebrities, political figures are standing out on social media platforms.
A research done by Psychological Science states that social media networks like twitter and Facebook are more addictive and harder to resist than cigarettes and other addictive substances, But do we actually need a study to prove that? Can’t we see it everywhere?
Another funny research done by the university of Chicago stated that students have the urge to check their social media accounts every 30 minutes and when they were prohibited to check their social media accounts for many hours, 7,827 out 10,558 students felt frustrated.
In Saudi Arabia, 60% of the population is under 30 years old, 75% of them are getting their local news mainly on Twitter, isn’t that an alarming indication for traditional media?
The high availability of social media platforms and active users are the main reasons behind this trending addiction. Everyone is constantly connected on the go! Whether it was Kim Kardashian’s divorce rumours or the Oscars selfie tweet, everyone turns to social media to get the news!
